Rently Application Smartphone Mockup
Project overview
With Rently, you have the ability to easily monitor and document a vehicle renter's reputation, which can then be used as credible evidence for future rentals.
How it came about
Sometime in 2022
Person 'X' and 'Y' reached out to me with the exciting proposal of joining forces and creating a product that will assist others, while also highlighting our abilities to potential employers and ourselves.
Not long after our conversation
After recognizing the need for a solution to this problem, we decided to delve deeper through research and determine if it was a viable pursuit worth pursuing.

My role
Inside the team we shared responsibilities, each member joining with their expertise.
My role involved conducting user research, generating ideas, sketching and prototyping, creating the Information Architecture (IA), designing the user interface and style guide, testing and analyzing, and presenting the results.
The problem
Car rental businesses (CRB) are seeking a convenient method to choose clientele with a positive rental history, thus reducing expenses for car maintenance. Meanwhile, customers desire to secure optimal deals and lower deposit fees.
Having gained insight and validated specific user needs I began generating ideas to outline the product.
Solution
Outline and develop a product to help both Car rental businesses (CRB)s and Customers, this will have a structure like this:
- Car rental businesses (CRB) portal
- Customer portal
- Customer service and management portal
Medium
With mobile devices accounting for nearly half of internet traffic, we decided to create a mobile app to cater to this audience.
Tools
Figma, Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, ClickUp), Webflow, Google analitycs.
Branding
During this phase, I meticulously crafted the Style Guide and designed a visually striking Logo for the App.

The logo comprises of two harmonious elements - text and shape. The shape symbolizes a mobile phone camera frame guide, emphasizing the app's core function of utilizing the phone camera to authenticate and document the vehicle's condition on-site.
Style guide image
The Style guide preview includes a variety of elements such as: vibrant primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, success, error, info, and alert hues, neutral tones, and text options, as well as eye-catching gradients and elegant shadows.
Typhograhpy
Crafted the Type scale for mobile devices to meet accessibility and usability standards.

Outcome and lessons learned
Structure
The mobile application consists in two distinct views, one designated for customers and the other for the Car rental businesses (CRB).
Throughout this project I learned
People don't want products that require changes on how they currently do things.
Most of them prefer learning as little as possible when interacting with a new product.
Accounting for a wide age range cand sometime be challenging, for example, it's a common theme that generally elderly people's technology knowledge can be limited and that can shorten their interest of using an app.
Roadmap and desired outcomes.
Our goal was to create a user-friendly product that streamlined the rental process without adding unnecessary complexity. We hope to see businesses adopt Rently as a default part of their rental process, which will ultimately enhance the overall renting experience and grow trust between businesses and clients.
